A talented performer from Upton, who reached the finals of ‘Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions’, is one step closer to achieving her dream of becoming a West End star after securing a place at Liverpool Theatre School.
Faye Caton (15), who won the hearts of the nation during a spectacular performance with the ‘Mersey Girls’ dance troupe on the ITV talent show, went on to impress the audition panel at Liverpool Theatre School with her exceptional singing, dancing and acting skills. She is set to begin a three-year professional musical theatre course at the prestigious performing arts school in September.
The gifted Woodchurch High School pupil, who also attends Hoylake School of Dance, started performing at the age of eight. She has already appeared in a number of local shows including ‘In the Heights’ at the Liverpool Empire.
Faye is hoping to follow in the footsteps of Liverpool Theatre School graduates who have landed roles in hit shows such as Wicked, Les Miserables, The Book of Mormon, Back to the Future the Musical, Tenors of Rock and Blood Brothers.
She said: “I’m really excited about joining Liverpool Theatre School. Performing is all I’ve ever wanted to do so I’m absolutely thrilled to have this opportunity to train professionally.
“I was lucky enough to have a look around Liverpool Theatre School before the lockdown began and I knew straight away that I wanted to train there. It was great to meet some of the tutors and students who were all really inspiring. I was so happy when I found out I’d been accepted and I can’t wait to start training in September.”
Maxine Ellis, Principal at Liverpool Theatre School, said: “Faye is clearly a very talented young performer who is well deserving of a place on the professional musical theatre course. She demonstrated natural talent during the audition process and everyone on the panel was extremely impressed by her singing, dancing and acting ability.
“We are very much looking forward to welcoming Faye to Liverpool Theatre School when the new academic year begins and I am confident she will enjoy the challenge of high level training as she takes her next steps towards a professional stage career.”
Liverpool Theatre School, based at Liverpool Central Studios, is the only place in the UK to offer professional training that is validated by Trinity College London across all three disciplines of musical theatre, acting and contemporary dance. The specialist performing arts college, rated ‘outstanding’ in all areas by Ofsted, is also one of just a handful of stage schools to offer the Andrew Lloyd Webber scholarship.
